Parents with children enrolled at Monarch Community School are expected to participate at school for a minimum of two (2) scheduled consecutive hours each week in a classroom. Class field trips may require additional time. In the event a parent cannot attend on a scheduled workday, that parent is expected to arrange for a substitute to take his/her place. Extended leave from the required workday may be granted for reasons such as maternity or family illness/emergency, etc.
Parent participation also includes attendance at scheduled class meetings, Learning Celebrations, Community Meetings and parent training sessions.
Additionally, each family is expected to sign up for at least one classroom or community job. Each family receives, and is expected to read and abide by, the guidelines outlined in the Monarch Community School Family Handbook which provides an in-depth review of the philosophy about how parents participate, how we communicate and the rules governing participation, substitutes, etc.
